BE Lung Fit Foundation curing rare lung diseases

Updated: Mar 24

The BE Lung Fit Foundation (BELieF) was born from a father's love and an unyielding pursuit of answers. His son, only 13 years old, was diagnosed with a complex and exceptionally rare combination of lung conditions after years of uncertainty and an overwhelming struggle with his health. His family faced a harsh reality: limited access to research, a lack of knowledge, and an untenable testing regime yielding no prognosis. The healthcare system, already stretched thin, left the founder—like too many families—without answers. But instead of accepting this grim situation, he chose to seek a future where no child had to face these challenges without the support of knowledge and the hope of cures. The date was 2nd July 2025. This fight led to the creation of the “BELieF Foundation” a groundbreaking initiative dedicated to revolutionising lung health through cutting-edge technology and knowledge, global collaboration, and medical innovation. A team including leading policymakers, world experts, social entrepreneurs & olympians were assembled to take charge of the fight. We are a start up born in BELieF and ready to take on the challenges to change how we tackle rare lung diseases & in doing so help the many.

Dr. Marjorie O'Neill shared a powerful and emotional story.

A Mission to Cure, Not Just Treat

At the heart of BE Lung Fit Foundation is a singular mission: “To cure, not treat, save the lungs of children.” We believe that treatments alone are not enough—we are determined to achieve transformative breakthroughs that will change how the world understands and treats rare lung diseases. Our goal is audacious. We aim to bare science and technology upon the medical community battling rare lung cases and share our knowledge so that others will benefit.

We will share this knowledge irrespective of traditional geographical, societal or economic barriers.

The Power of Collaboration: The Lung Labs @ “Jupiter’s Grace”

Central to our mission is “Lungs Lab”, a world-class Centre of Expertise. This pioneering facility will unite the brightest minds in AI, medicine, and research to accelerate the future of lung health. At “Jupiter’s Grace”, we will develop multidimensional lung visualisation, harness AI and decode lung diseases, to their simplest forms. Allowing broader perspectives to fast-track groundbreaking solutions once thought impossible.

Lung diseases, impact one in three Australians. Our issues are rare diseases. These conditions, often don’t receive the same level of funding and attention as more common diseases. Through the BELieF Foundation, its founder, Mike hopes to bridge this gap, offering hope and tangible solutions for families facing similar battles. The foundation is already supported by world-renowned experts like Professor Adam Jaffé, a world leader in childhood lung diseases, who has pledged to spearhead the search for breakthrough solutions. But the work of BELieF Foundation isn’t just about the science—it’s about creating a community where everyone can come together to make a difference. Big or small. Together, as a village, OUR VILLAGE, we will change the world of lung health in kids who need it most.

A Call for Support from the NSW Government

Dr. Marjorie O’Neill, Member for Coogee, NSW Parliament Houst, Australia, delivered a speech in 2024 in the NSW Parliament recognising the impact of rare lung diseases and the vital impact the BE Lung Fit Foundation could make. She highlighted how lung diseases affect one in three Australians, disproportionately impacting indigenous and low-income communities. Dr. O’Neill acknowledged BELieF Foundation’s mission to establish a *Centre of Excellence” for funding, research, and technology development on rare lung diseases*, empowering collaboration to drive medical breakthroughs. The foundation is supported by *Professor Adam Jaffé, a world leader in childhood lung diseases*, and calls on all of us to work together so that children like Tom have the answers that medicine has yet to discover.
